Hello, again. I hope all is well with you.
It was my birthday last week, and I received some lovely presents, including novels, but the best gift was the one I gave myself -- four lovely days off to do whatever I wanted. Hurrah! As it was sunny (miraculous), I spent lots of time reading in the garden. And overeating chocolate and cake. Bliss.
What did I read? I hear you ask. Let’s see. I began with This Perfect Day by Ira Levin, who first spooked me in the late 1980s and succeeded in doing the same in 2021. Thanks, Ira. After that, in need of fun and frothiness, I devoured Sophie Kinsella’s I Owe You One.
Now I’ve nearly finished The New Mrs Clifton by Elizabeth Buchan -- most intriguing.
So that was one dystopian science fiction, one romantic comedy/chick-lit, and one historical women's fiction. My reading taste has always been all over the place, or eclectic if you prefer the posher word. It maybe explains why my books are tricky to categorise -- especially for me!
However, they mainly involve women who find their true selves and escape the chains of manipulative people -- sometimes with a touch of magic -- always with lots of humour and sass.
And they nearly all have a ghost. That said, I realised good genres for me to write in are Paranormal Cosy Mystery and/or Paranormal Women's Fiction -- both with a dash of romance.
That's a long way of saying my work in progress is about a newly divorced fortyish woman from Liverpool who inherits a posh London pad...
With a resident ghost, zany occupants, and a murder to solve. And it's set in the 1980s when shoulder pads ruled the world. I'll let you know when it goes live.
Now for this month's offers, promotions and freebies...
The first in my Witches of London trilogy, Angela’s Lashes, is free for a few days.
And if you are in UK or USA, the follow-ups are 99p or 99 cents.
And, last but not least, here are this month's group promotions and offers. Click the pics to enjoy a good browse.
But whatever you choose, enjoy and add cake.
That's it from me for now. Happy reading, and I'll blog again soon.
